Where are they? Well, the SYs. I've had two males that have been hanging around for the past week, then leave in the evenings when they can't get into a gourd. No females at all.
Also lastnite, I had two new ASY males that showed up and stayed..... where'd they come from?

It seems as though my lil' colony will never grow. I had 8 pr last year, two which were SYs. This year 9pr. I know I shouldn't gripe, there are those who never get them.

Chuck,

I've got three ASY pairs with eggs for over a week now. They fought off SY's that were here over a week ago. Now, over the last few days I've had a new crop of SY's, both male and female but mostly males, checking things out morning and evening. But, only one SY male stays the night. The established ASY pairs are now pretty much leaving them alone to check out and go in the empty compartments and gourds. So, they are around, but still seem to be searching and looking and not pairing off yet around my place.

I've had good numbers of SYs for the past 2 weeks. Some have stayed, some have moved on. I have an SY pair that has finally taken a site in the old Trio. I have a couple of ASY males with SY females. I have eggs in 7 nests, one renesting, and a couple more still building but no eggs. All told, I think I have 10 pairs and a few extra SYs. There's been a lot of squabbling today but the ASY males are finally letting up on the poor SY males. After quite break, I finally trapped a pair of pesky sparrows today. One pair down, one pair to go.

Good luck,
