Hi My friends
A very generous family in town donated 8 super gourds with round holes
i want to add the troyer tunnel with collar to them to. Do I have to make the
hole larger to 3 inches or can i keep the factory size round hole of the gourd
which is a little smaller. To save myself alot of work i dont want to put any martins in danger with the smaller hole but if i can get away with it i would be
very happy. Andy said make the hole larger but i would like to hear from people here.
Thanks
Ray

Definitely cut the larger hole! A smaller hole for the inside tunnel entrance isn't good, you will get wing entrapments especially with fighting inside the gourd, had it happen so I know.
The collars on those troyers are pretty stiff, I had to heat mine with a heat gun to conform to the shape of the super gourd. Wear welding gloves and heat just enough to shape the collar and hold it in place till it cools a bit, one corner at a time.

Just put four of the gourds together they look excellent.
And very simple to apply tunnel to the gourds.
My work for the season almost complete.
I will be adding 16 new homes for the birds
Its going to be a great season in 2014.
