Anyone who wants to receive the spring issue of the PM Update, this is about IT for renewing/joining - call 814-833-7656 or join online,http://www.purplemartin.org/shop/produc ... ucts_id=28
There is some great information in this issue, including a comprehensive article on controlling House Sparrows, new research results on survival of fledglings, articles on predator-resistant houses, and much more—what you can learn from doing feeding counts; why it's so important to share martins with children; how martins react to different housing types. The PMCA needs your support to keep working for martins and landlords - and the Update makes a great father's or mother's day gift - we hope you'll support martins and the PMCA.
Time to join or renew/Spring issue coming soon

- Martin Colony History: Colony started - 2007 with one pair
As of 2018 - 84 cavities offered, max # of pairs hosted - 82.
I renewed today too - because I just realized it is APRIL already!!!
Sent my stepfather a gift membership too - early Father's Day present! I didn't even know until last year that he has 3 Trios in his yard - FULL of martins. And he (being a hunter) sits in his chair outside watching them, with his 'house sparrow control' by his side.
Hehehehe!!!

It's probably too late but you guys should include a page with the nest check spead sheet. So people can rip/cut it out. Maybe you would bump your submissions that way.
I can't remember seeing one in the past update mags. I know it's online and people can print it out but it just might make it a little easier. It's also probably too late for a lot of the southerners.
Going to check my SW Michigan site Saturday. Hoping the season has started for me!

PMCA member. Trendsetter 12 system on Lake Michigan, 2011: 1 pair laid eggs, lots of vistors, 2012: added dawnsong and decoys, no luck (Had a wren take over the house), 2013 added four Troyer gourds to up my chances.

Ben, we include the PMW nest check form in the catalog sent out annually - that goes to many more people than the member's magazine (wish that was not so!) but thanks for the suggestion, that might be a good thing to do next time.
