Tree swallows in central east (Villa Ridge) Missouri, early this am I observed a pair of tree swallows checking the housing. I usually reserve a house for them by keeping the entrance closed until they are here, this is the 1st year they were ahead of the martins. What I saw later was at another bb house was 2 tree swallows; 2 blue birds, 2 sparrows, 2 chickadees, and 1 starling all gathered around the house. The sparrows and starling are on my list but this house is 75 yards, a fair challenge for my pcp pellet gun, but possible.
No martins yet but everything is is ready. The problem I am seeing already is the hawks, they are setting around drooling. They are free for taking if someone wants them. Levertt

yeah the hawks have to be at all time high numbers. I never remember seeing them this much.

Trap and loosely tie the legs of the house sparrows and starlings in clear view of those drooling hawks!

These heavy southerly winds are already bringing in the MO reports today. Good luck Lev!
