I bought a PM house a couple years ago and put it up but then we had to move. I have it in storage. Is it too late to try to attract the younger PM'S this year?
I'm not sure I have a great spot for it because our property has a lot of trees. But it backs up to a ranch that is open so I'm thinking of putting it on the very edge of our property facing the open land.

You can put it up now and be ok. The SY birds(young ones) will start to arrive in a couple of weeks.

Christine,
I'd say go ahead and put it up. I didn't put my house up my first year after moving until around the first week of April and still got martins my first year, and there were ASYs in that group. You never know how many are scouting around for places to nest. Best of luck!

Hi Christine,
I would say it's not to late. From Wenesday till this morning, I've picked up four more ASY PMs. Don't know if their from another house that was taken down or what. I need two female to be "filled". The SYs should start coming in a week or so, so that may be your best chance.
