Last spring my ten year old grandson made a Blue Bird House, in a school bird study unit. It was waxed cardboard and well shall we say nicely painted, in bright colors. The hole was much oversized and oblong.

With much ado we planted a post and patiently awaited our first guest.
Within a week the Bluebirds came and rejected us.

Following the Blue Birds rejection the Wrens built, in that box, with the huge cavity, for wrens. A family, of four was soon a part, of our daily enjoyment. When they left I immediately cleaned the house.

A family, of Black Capped Chickees settled, in immediately and raised a family..........again, in an oversized cavity and large hole box.

Meanwhile until the middle, of the summer the smaller bird boxes were unrented. Late, in the season the second and third nests got organized and into the right boxes. Our very active early season box went unused as the second or third nesting birds all rejected it.

Birds do what birds wanna do. Ya can not outguess them.
