:) :) This is great. My 10 year old son was shooting basketball in the driveway this morning, when he spotted the first scout of the season (female). He ran inside to my wife that she must call dad at work right away, she asked why, he said I just saw a Purple Martin!!! Then my 7 year old son runs outside to confirm the sighting. Yes he's right call dad!!!!

I went home for lunch and a ASY male & female were flying over the house, what a great day. :P Patrick

Patrick, isn't it wonderful that a 10yr & a 7yr old know how to identify birds? I have seen many 20 - 40 yr old people that never take the time to look at birds because they don't have time, and most children that age as yours don't know anything about birds...Congratulations...We all need to take the time to enjoy nature. It seems like such an easy thing to do, and it is so relaxing....We don't need sleeping pills...smile

They have been showing up a lot of places in this area in the last couple days...

I can tell you they will always remember waiting for the first PM. Some of my best memories of my gram and gramp was waiting for the martins to show up. I would sit out back crack pecans and hope they picked the house that I made with my gramp !!
Very Cool :P

Patrick. I'd like to offer a "Congratulations", and an "Atta boy and girl" to you and your wife. You've obviously been training your kids right. Keep up the good work, and you won't need to go looking for them when they grow up a bit. They'll be in the backyard enjoying nature. CUL Lou
