Thanks MM, I think he is the sweetest little boy, always smiling. Now I will just have to convince his mother that birds aren't sissy but I think she will come around because I sure would like to have another martiner in the family someday.

That's the ticket, Donna - recruit 'em young! Kids have such a strong affinity for nature in general, and nothing hooks them quicker than seeing baby birds in a nest. Plus kids today need all the encouragement we can give them to step away from the TV, xbox, etc and get OUTSIDE to enjoy the real world.
We invite the 5th grade class from the school next door over to watch a nest check every year, and band one nest as 'their' birds while they watch. You're going to get your grandson off to a good start.

I think that's great Louise, I bet those fifth graders love it.
We had a couple of handicap children move in next door a couple of months ago and I'm going to talk to the parents to see if they can come over sometime to do a nest check. Right now most of the kids in our neighborhood watch P.M.T.V. so they can see the babies. They show their friends when they come to visit the house where they get to see the babies.
