How many still waiting on returning Martins?

I had a few in late March, but now they are all gone. This sub-freezing weather has really put a damper on the martins this year. I've talked to a few other landlords and they are in the same situation as me. We are in SW Missouri.

I had one pair last year and they successfully fledged two young.
Thye have returned this year and are currently feeding some hatchlings, but I'm dissapointed that their young and/or other martins haven't shown up. I was hoping to have more this year.
Oh well, I grateful to have the pair back!
The ASY male is beautiful this year.

Carlton,
I wrote some things on my calender hanging on refer in garage. I guess it got tossed when the new one went up..
I did go back and found my scout report from last year. Was 4-07-06, so not to terribly late I guess, considering the weather. I do have my nest building, egg laying, egg hatching, fledging dates, ect. I just didn't have the dates they showed up. I am very hopeful for next week as its suppose to warm up into the 60's....Yippie! Until then I will keep looking up!
Hopeful wishes to the rest of you that are still waiting also.

Hang in there folks they are coming. This cold snap stopped em in their tracks. The next 2 weeks and your birds will be showing up. Probably staring this next week.
I've had 31 pair in 2005, and split up the colony last year having around 28 pair between the two. Right now I have 9 birds...I had 10, one female has moved on a couple days ago when it got decent again.
Teresa in Minden/Iowa, I had a pair show up about the time you say your pair dissappeared...maybe them haha She's the girl that has moved on now though, but the male is still hanging around for now.
One year the earliest was April 15th. They are just waiting out this weather. During the next 2-3 weeks they will be pouring in!

Hello All,
Thanks for posting. As of today I have still not seen a martin. I lowered housing this morning and checked all compartments and put back up. Clicked on dawnsong at let it play. It has finally warmed up this week so I hope they will return soon. I am definitely surprised though that not even one of my returning martins have showed up yet.
Anyone in Illinois still waiting. How about some martins landlords just south of Illinois? I'll keep you all posted as to if and when I see something!
Thanks a bunch!

I still have no matins at my site,However of the five sites that I see everyday going to work four of them did .Keith
I live in mid-north Indiana. I haven't seen pair from last year. My neighbor's established colony hasn't shown up either. He had 5 pair last year. I started playing dawnsong a couple of days ago, wanting to pick up some SY's coming thru. I seen first male ASY last year on April 5. I see where there was some spotted in Lucerne on March 31 of this year, approx. 25 miles, east, from here.

Hey all,
Finally.....I believe one of my asy males showed up around 5:45pm. He went right for the compartment that was first occupied last year. He left and came back in about 20 minutes with a female. Of course I had to leave
. When I returned about an hour before dark the male was still flying around. I watched him go in for the night, not sure if she is in or not. He slid right through the crescent and In just like he's done it the last three years..
I sure hope its him, I'll see if I can post a couple pics. I run another post on arrival. People maybe getting tired of seeing this one...
Believe me, all your responses are greatly appreciated!
Thanks so much! Crutch
If this keep going i will still add my sightings....especially if he don't stay
Second pic, he is the one on bottom, decoy on top!

Mild weather has arrived in Minnesota along with our favorite birds. Counted nine at my colony today and expect them to bring friends along.

Here in southern Louisiana another wave of subbies came in yesterday.
I've had four pair staying with me for the past two weeks. I think some of the subbies are going to stay too.
Along with the subbies, my Aunt's colony has returned just yesterday and she lives just down the street from me. I guess they come in waves like that. She was so excited to see them as she had been worrying herself sick about them not returning.
The weather here is great and all is well. Good luck to you Northern landlords.

Hello All,
Since the 17th when I saw the return of one asy male, I have around 16 martins. I was out today and they all seem to be asy. I will try and get a better look tomorrow. We have been getting some rain off and on the last couple day. I think a little over 2-1/2 half inches.
I have counted about 20 flying up above feed, its hard to count them when they won't hold still..
It's been a while since I reported and was wanting you all to know whats going on around this area. I guy just outside of town has around 35 martins in his natural gourds. It seems most of the ones here are paired up. I have heard them bickering over compartments/SG's. I will try to post when I see some subbies come in.
Thanks for all your replies! I was worried there for a while. I just need more patients
Thanks again!
