ChickenMan, It's funny how people see things differently. What I have witnessed from this forum it that if a newcomer asks a question, they are welcomed to the board and are given advice from several successful forum members. As far as the hobby being expensive, it sure can be. There are other alternatives as well, such as less expensive housing or finding a used one for free or cheap. I've always thought of a landlord as a positive thing. A landIord provides housing for someone who is unable or unwilling to build their own, that is a good thing, right?? I think your story about Peggy and Jeff is sour grapes on your part because you were unable to get the housing. You tried to butt in on a deal that was already being made on Jan 22. This is after you halted your project of building a Taverner Style House because you received a 4 story aluminum house with a 14' pole for free on Jan 11. If someone is interested in the hobby it seems they find a way. I hope you are successful with this hobby and enjoy it for many years to come.

I will add, have a neighbor up the lake that eat supper at our house all the time. Admired our Martins and I told them $600 for a pole and some gourds to get started. That was too much money.
They bought a wooden 4x4 post and a plastic house and a couple of pair survive there every year.
