Martin Colony History: First house put up in 2013 with occupants noted within an hour. Today we have 4 houses, 2 with SREH'S, and about 15-20 martin pairs.

I'm in central MO and have about 15 PM s this morning and it's 48 degrees now.
Things started slow, with the first coming 3/20. I have 4 houses--2 with SREH and 2 without.Their favorite house is a heavy, old, homemade, 2 layered one with round holes. I had 2 or 4 holes opened at first, then gradually opened more based on the numbers we saw and where they hung out the most. All my holes are open now, but I would go slow based on the numbers you see. Have been landlording for about 5 years now.

Have some pesky starlings going in and out of some round holes and considering making them SREHs, but wondering how the PMs would accept that at this date.
Hope you see more PMs as the weather starts warming up. I played the dawn song alot last week and put meal worms out on my feeder, but only noticed the starlings enjoying those. I consider myself lucky and praise the PM Gods for their safe return.
