MechlingFam I by no means a Martin landlord expert. I too am on my very first pair. But to my knowledge every three to four days would probably be a little bit better than everyday nest checks. after mine began bringing in the green leaves I went through the same decision process. Luckily I knew that once egg laying begins, female will lay 1 egg per day until she is finished without skipping a day. I'm sure there are exceptions to that rule but for the most part that's the deal. Therefore, once you find that first egg I think it's best to let female "lay in peace " and at the very most check every other day. I was forced to do a check two days in a row because female layed first two eggs in separate gourds so I checked the very next day to see which gourd she'd lay the 3rd egg in and then I was able to move the single egg to that gourd. Then I waited a few days to bother her again. Hope this helps. Best of luck.
