I have been listening for the dawn song in the predawn hours all week. And this morning at 5 am i stepped outside and sure enough dawn singing was on!!!! Got home tonight and checked pole number 1 and sure enough in cavity 4 was my first egg of the season. And I suspect there are eggs in pole number 4 was there was males on that pole dawn singing as well. I know when ever I hear the dawn song there is egg laying in progress. My colony is eight years old and dawn singing and egg laying have always gone hand in hand.

This morning for the first time this year I heard a martin dawn singing but not flying around, he was in the house.

Did you know Tree swallows dawn sing? Sounds a lot like a sparrow screech):

Our martins are still dawnsinging here in south Texas, and I was wondering how many landlords in southern states are also hearing dawnsong?
