JL I have 2 racks with ez off insulated guards, I had some problems during wet or damp weather with the charge sparking across and making a snaping sound. I cut the metal back and moved a rivit and that helped a lot.

Another thing about electric guards at the bottom of poles .... If you have a male dog don't let them raise a leg to your pole. Most dogs will not do it a second time but some will forget and do it again.

Yes JL same thing except mine was for a 3"pole. The charge arched across inside to one of the nuts holding the bracket. It only did it once in a while but loud when it happened because the sound was amplified by the hollow cylinder. I have a high power charger, maybe with a lower power unit it wouldn't happen at all?

Ray, I have not had my 3" Pole Guard or my 2" Pole Guard's hooked to a charger yet, But when i get them all hooked up i am hoping that i don't have that problem, But if i do your information about how you fixed it will come in very handy. Thanks!
