caught a cat night before last.. crazy wild. Then had another stray climb my bedroom window screen in the middle of the night last night. I guess a cat could eat sunflower seeds... sure would explain why it was cleaned up so well.
I keep the trap out for awhile and see what else we catch.
Raccoon Question...

Dorn, maybe the coon thats chowing down all your seed is too fat to feel comfortable squeezing into a cage trap.
Like Bluetick, I am also a pursuer of coons, only I use traps instead of dogs. Up here in IN I have caught several coons(in leghold traps) through the years, that would never fit far enough into a typical racoon cage trap to allow it to close.
Another bait to try is bacon grease, mix it with the same seed, but don't be surprised if you catch other critters, all animals seem to love it.

well my trap was triggered again this morning.
And there was a racoon in it this time. I took him for a ride!

- Martin Colony History: Start 2009 with one pair. Upgraded from S&K houses to two Trendsetter 12's with gourds beneath in 2013. I have experienced job, pet, and parental losses since '13. The Purple Martins lift my spirits and remind me how life continues forward by flying their little selves from Brazil back to my yard. As one forum person once told me, chin up DebA, look at the martins. Danger all around but yet they soar in the sky without a care in the world.
We have an enclosed backyard for our dogs with a doggy door in our back door. I was asleep when Mark went that direction to the bathroom about 1030pm. He returned to the bedroom doorway and heard something run out the doggy door flap like a rocket. Our dogs were in front of him and accounted for. He has seen coon tracks outside and thinks one came into our house! Guess we won't be so lazy in closing up that door at night.
Glad you caught yours and are going for that ride.

18 pair in 2017.
Remember, skunks get caught in those traps also.
About the cats: We have an ordinance here but some cat owners ignore it. I'm thinking about trapping them and letting the owners bail them out of kitty jail.

Congrats Dorn.
Gene, thats hilarious! Kitty jail, I say do it. You are lucky to be in a community that has a cat ordinance.
