All my goodies are in the air and I have no martins yet in Jacksonville, Florida (in the northeast corner of the state).

Hi James,James Strickland FL wrote:Well the number are real low here in South Fla. I'm sure that the numbers will go up with the weather changing this week. I'm hoping to see some near my site soon. Several landlords that have martins near me have not reported in as of yet. Maybe this week. I'm still looking to the sky.
With the weather warming back up, we should see the numbers start to grow!
Just this morning my wife and I were sitting out back enjoying our coffee and saw five martins feeding overhead.
An ASY male came and landed on one of my gourds, stuck his head in the hole and flew off. A few minutes later he came back landed once again on a gourd. This time he stayed and snooped around looking inside and then flew to another and checked it out.
I have an ASY male that's been sleeping in the Coates house for a couple of weeks now, but this is the first time I've seen a martin on my new gourds!
I sure hope you get your pms soon.

James,
I so hope you get martins this year. I know you have worked hard and they will come. It will be like you said on one of your posts, one day you will walk outside and see martins sitting on your new house. Everytime I look at the scout report for FL, I hope to see you name there, and hopefully it will be very soon. Just know you are in our thoughts and we are hoping martins come your way.

The winds are going to change in a few day were they will becoming from the south and that should help them get here easily.
Have a great season!

James,
You WILL have martins this season....You have such a great set up, you are a great landlord and you had so much patience and such positive attitude. If I have to drive a martin pair to you I will do so....
but you will have martins. However, I think they will find you naturally....they know what a great place you have

Love it or leave it~~~Astrid :-)
I feel fortunate I still have one pair ... but until today I had not seen any other PM's...not at even established neighboring colonies. I did see two more flying with my two late this afternoon but the additional birds were not checking out my housing as far as I was able to see.
My pair are being so good....they are valiantly defending both my houses from the BLINKING HOSP's....I made their job a little easier today by opening my traps.
I just LOVE Sparr-o-doors.
I just don't think I could own a house that wouldn't accept 'em.
I caught all three that were hanging around in the space of about 4 hours.
I could tell my birds were grateful.
Just didn't want anyone with low numbers this early on to feel bad!
I don't know why I have a pair so early but I'm thankful I do!
I'll send the next ones y'all's way!

Shari G thanks for wishing to send a pair also. it is still very early in the season. This year I will not let it get me down. If they don't come this year maybe next and maybe the next. I will always have a house up for them.
Stingray I hope that you are getting more coming your way.
I know you've been trying very hard to get martins and have a very nice setup!
Have you ever watched a movie called "The Secret"? If not, you need to go out TODAY and get the movie and watch it. I've tried to live my life by the tenants it proposes - that of "you can have whatever you want in life"....and when I have, it works!
I'm serious - do it - if nothing else, you've had a nice 2-hour distraction from looking at the skies! There is a trailer to the movie on this website - if you can get it to run. (on edit: Don't bother reading the book - it's not very well written - the movie is much better!)

EDIT: Here is the first 20 minutes of the movie from YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_b1GKGWJbE8
