The gourd someone else needs to weigh I don't have a scale that is accurate for that,it goes over the 1# max by quite a bit. The total of all pieces is about 25 ounces that I'm adding. So lets guesstimate the gourd weighs 1 1/2 pounds add that to 25 ounces we come up with about 49 ounces or a little over 3 pounds total x 12 gourds for a grand total of 36.75 pounds on the pole, no problem there. The weight on each arm will be 3 pounds ,no problem there either.
Bear in mind that this material is sewer and drain thinwall not the conventional PVC pipe and fittings..
Moving ahead with the design effort.
I got the HDPE adhesion promoter in today,I may try a paint test this week end and the Fusion paint test will be ready/finished saturday.
I'm going fishing on thursday and friday with #2 grandson.

Don't forget to add the weight of the rack itself to get the total weight for the pole.........arms, slip pipe, etc.dicklaxt wrote: ....... It's fun to come up with your own design isn't it!

Right you are HW,I have been looking at the weight of the rack as well, all components will be aluminun so will be at a minimum and of course much less than other materials unless I find some space age plastic that is not cost prohibtive for my back pocket or the live in War Department.
I don't have the foggiest what the weight may be at this time but will know one of these days

Emil another thing I read on the directions to the adhesion promoter is that it can be applied by wiping so I'm going to use an old cotton sock or something and put it on this weekend and then get a coat of epoxy on it,shold have an answer by dark sunday.

Dick it may help to clean the gourd real well with soap, scrub it a bit, and wipe it clean. There seems to be a coating on the plastic that will come off with pvc cleaner, or scrubbing it real good

Thanks for the alert on that coating ,I guess thats why the surface prep called for washing down with an isopropyl alcohol/detergent
