I have at least 5 new sub males today! Lots of rain and cool weather and wind around St. Louis lately. My PMs seem to be handling it fine though. I have noticed them feeding unusually low right above the lake surface. Not sure what that is all about. I did try some scrambled eggs on a platform feeder a few days ago just for fun but I don't think I had any takers. Nest building activity tapered off when the cool fronts rolled in but at last check had one nest with 5 eggs. Maybe you can make out a couple of the subs in tonight's picture attached.

Didn't realize you were so close to St. Louis (looked on map) -- very encouraging to see a great house covered in birds in this area.

Kent,
Great crowd you have on the house there... I'm glad to hear things are going well in Smithton... Here in Columbia, I have managed to attract one pair to a gourd that I hung under my house. Today I also found 3 eggs in the nest, but unfortunately I found 2 on the ground... bummer. Anyway, The bluebirds have 5 babies, and I have a pair of tree swallows buzzing around... it's been fun over here. Send some Subbies my way. Good luck..

Mike, Hope things are still going well at your place. I think today was a big break in the weather for us. I've had a lot of swallows of all kinds around my place lately, PMs, barnies, TRES, and swallow tails. Also have 5 new BB babies that hatched today. Cold temps and rain be darn. They will surely eat me out of house and mealworms!
