I want to move my purple martin houses to a new location before next spring to see if I have better luck. I have a telescoping pole 1 1/2 inch at bottom. The pole was purchased at Lowe's and is used with the heath octogon aluminum house. The sleeve that came with the pole is plastic ( I think that is what my husband said).
Where can I purchase another sleeve for that type of pole?
I would prefer not to buy a new pole. I just to buy a sleeve.

Terri,
You could probably use a piece of galvanized (preferred) or black iron water pipe. They are available in lengths such as 24" and 30" (threaded at both ends) at hardware or home improvement stores. There is probably a size that has an I.D. that would provide clearance for your 1.5" O.D. pole. This pipe is kind of pricey and may be overkill, so as an alternative you could look for a suitable length of plastic pipe. You could use an automotive muffler clamp to keep the pole from twisting in its sleeve.
I hope that over time you can replace the hexagonal Heath houses.

You could probably get a piece of PVC pipe at Lowes or a local plumber might have a piece to give you. Just get one that has an inside diameter that your pole will fit in. A 24-30" piece with a small bag of quickrete should do the trick!

Thanks for the ideas. I will check into it real soon. I won't move the houses until winter, but I always like to be prepared. I will be totally set up and waiting on the birds next year. Maybe I will have better luck next year.
Thanks
