I came home for lunch today,got out of my truck and heard my martins carrying on a commotion! I thought to myself, there must be a subbie back! I went to the back porch, sat down with my spotting scope. It took a few minutes of searching,but sure enough, there he was ! An SY male, with two purple feathers on his breast! He was going from gourd to gourd, trying to check them out, but with little success. Most of the 36 gourds I have up are already occupied by ASY pairs. Looks like he'll have to settle with one of the T-14 compartments.
So Pennsylvania and northern wannabies, get ready! The subbies are coming!!!!!!!! GOOD LUCK TO EVERYONE!!!!!

I am thrilled and amazed at the size of your colony. Congratulations!
If you ever have some time, it would benefit many if you could write a post telling the forum about the long hard path to starting a colony in PA. You are a great example of a northern wannabe who achieved success through education, effort, and PATIENCE.
No subbie males here, though a female I am certain is a subbie has been here for two weeks. She's an "accidental", I suppose and not significant. It happens.

I've been busy it seems forever and haven't been able to post that often. When I get a chance, I will post about getting my colony started here in Pa. It was hard at first, but well worth it!

Where in PA is Slatington? Oh, I just checked my map and I see you are just South of Jim Thorpe. I'm a wannabie in North East - North Central PA and I'm in the process of building my first PM house. It's all done except a couple layers of paint. I better hurry 
Does anyone have any idea how fast they migrate? In other words, How long will it take them to get from Central PA to Northern PA? Just wanted an estimate of how long I have to get my house up and ready.

Hey Walt,
They could get here in a day if they had reason. Based on the way the scouts seemed, to move, we have a week, to a month and a half, for them, to show up here.
