Well, after a cold rainy Thursday, the subbies came back today and for an hour circled, landed, tried the SREHs, and never succeeded! Wanted to take a long pole and just push them on in. Maybe they'll succeed soon!
With all the starlings around, I guess I can't give in to the round holes. Dang!
Frustrating frustration!!!!

Don't give up they will get in. I had a couple asy's play around for a couple of days trying to get in my super gourds. Tonight they seceded. I also have natural gourds with round holes with one pair. It kind of suprised me the other pair chose the crescents.

The SY pair showed up the first time just before 12 noon. From then 'til 7:35pm they kept coming back sometimes bring several others, including an adult male. They would leave for awhile, show back up, perch, sing, poke about 3/4 way in the SREH then leave again!
I am encouraged that they keep coming back! Maybe tomorrow will be the day they take the plunge. It's almost as if they're afraid that they might not be able to get back out????
Thanks for the encouragement!
