Okay, just wondering if anyone has ever seen this before? Two weeks
ago ASY female showed up at my site that seemed to have a big problem
getting into one of my natureline gourds, she choose a ASY male right
away and I noticed ever time he would enter the gourd she would try to
go in but she would just hang from one foot. She would turn loose fly
around and try again, after a few days she got better, but every night
I would hold my breath until she was in a gourd! Now she has started to
nest build and she was having such a hard time this morning with nest
material in her mouth hanging from one foot that I got the binoculars,
thats when I noticed she has no toes on that foot! I watched as she
seems to have no trouble sitting on the rack, just trouble going in the
gourd. It looks like if the male is in the gourd that he will pull her on in!
No Toes!

April. Hopefully, she'll get that nest built to her liking, and raise some babies. Please keep us advised as to how she is doing. CUL Lou
Hello CUL Lou, I will keep you posted on how she makes out, I am sure
she will make a great mother! The cooper showed up again tonight but
everyone got in their gourds and house okay. Everynight I am a nervous
wreak till they all go in to roost.

Hi April,
I have seen a female with toe trouble too - her toes are just short 'nubs' and she can perch but her balance is a tad dicey if it's windy. She was having trouble with the homemade plastic porch on her chosen gourd - some added texture seemed to help. We'll be watching her to see how she does.
I sent you an email - please check your message box. (and just wondering, when's your birthday
) Happy birthday from another aries.

In 2003 there was an ASYM unpaired along with 4 SY pairs at my sight with a deformed foot. He was able to enter/exit/perch. Could he reproduce? Maybe he sired all the chicks that year. Good for him. Never saw him again after that summer.
Hello Louise,
I have been gone the weekend and just got your message this
morning, I have also sent you a e-mail let me know if you get it.
I am keeping a close eye on her and will keep everyone posted.
I should be a aries but I am a taurus, My due date was April 20th
but I did not arrive until May 14th. My mom had already picked
out the name April Lynn, but since I was born in May my dad wanted
to name me after his mother May-Bell, my mom won! But my husband is a aries.
