Had a ASY pair show up this morning!!! First ones of the season. They were singing and looking good. My houses were not open but they were both trying to squeeze into my Spar-O-Door. It was humorous watching them trying to get in. Didn't think they would be so persistant about it.
I opened up the houses and have seen the male checking out a hole. They are gone now so don't know if they were one of mine from last year or someone else's. Doesn't matter at the moment I am just excited!
Good luck folks!!

Hi, Dale,
The photo attached to your sign-in name is certainly nice but, aaaaahh, eeerrr, I'm not surehow to break this to you but I'm thinkin' that's maybe not a Purple Martin. The blue is the wrong shade, the reddish breast doesn't seem quite right. The white undeside is probably okay...just a first year bird. Maybe it's just a color-variant thing with your local martin population but it don't look right to me! Handsome though and I wouldn't be afraid to supplement feed it with meal worms during inclement weather.

hi Chuck,
Good observation
I felt I needed to transition from my Longhorns to my favorite bird and the BB seemed like a good choice. That reddish color is quite close to UT burnt orange
Also, the BBs got here first and mama is sitting on 5 eggs that should hatch today or tomorrow. I'm excited and hope to get to see it on video but I b stuck at work till this afternoon. Yesterday, I tuned in BBTV and watched the male bring a juicy morsel to the little wifey...what a good boy birdy:!:
I'll change the avatar to a martin pretty soon so stay tuned...
Oh yeah, I can visualize your avatar....a martin with a red-neck

We probably should change the topic line but this one isn't crowded, so I'll ask about the BBTV. You have a nest cam? If so, wireless? I've been looking for a good wireless setup with IR and color but haven't found one yet.
In the nest box just outside the office door, we fledged 3 broods of BB last year. I've seen them a couple times over the winter but they hang out at parts unknown. Recently, they've been coming around more regularly. Another week or two and they should start getting serious around here with nest building.
The PMs really poured in last night. We went from six to 20 overnight. usual ratio of 2 ASM to 1 ASF. Another 100 and I'll take down the vacancy sign.
The two UTs took rather divergent paths in football last year (I liked yours better!). A couple more years of the same at this UT, and Fulmer and staff's colors will change from burnt orange to burnt toast.

That is great! The martins just returned to Atlantic today too! They are well on their way and with the warm weather in the forecast more birds should be arriving soon!
