I saw my first male ASY martin this morning at 8:15 am. sitting on top of one of my gourd racks wondering why I haven't put up my gourds yet. I had planned to do so this weekend. Its a light drizzling rain now. He looks good and is flying around having a good time. Hooray let the season begin.
Martins are my treasure.

Lawrence. This weekend? Sounds like Last weekend would have been about right. Huh?? ha ha ha. Hopefully your PM won't drown out. Glad the weekend is only one more day away. Good luck this year. We need all the PMs you and others can successfully raise here in Michigan. Oh, if ya get too many??? Send them up to Lowell. My North Star, S&K Barn, and gourd rack are already up and waiting for visitors. CUL Lou

Thanks Lou. I put up two gourd rack full of gourds and Friday night we had a pretty severe storm come through Lenawee County with 65 mph. winds. It sounded like a freight train with horizontal rain. I was concerned that my gourds would be blown down by the time morning came, but everthing faired pretty well. Saturday morning I had 3 pair flying around so I put up the other two rack full.
Actually we have a few super sights on the east side of Mich. I had 64 pair last year and there are 3 more sights within 10 miles of Blissfield that have a 100 plus. Also there is one in Carleton Mi. plus Mary Dawnsongs sight. I'm sure I have missed some , but it shows there are Martins in Michigan. Just hang in there Lou , we will produce enough martins to head your way!

My first pair arrived on Saturday, a second pair is here this morning. The tree swallows are having a quarrel with them, but I have other gourds low down for them, and the martins are chasing them away from their gourds.
There are a number of sites on Whitmore Lake; two of us are neighbors of Mary Dawnsong, and there are others around the lake.
We have had bad storms over the weekend, so we lowered the pole by one section. The martins don't seem to mind their houses going up and down.
