My Grandpa Trio is old and has suffered some pretty stiff winds in the past. It has a noticeable lean to it now. I'm wondering if that poses any problems for the Martins. In particular, since I've added SRE doors, I'm afraid the lean might affect their ability to enter or leave the unit.
Any thoughts would be appreciated. Margaret

A slight lean won't bother the martins. My parents have a well occupied old Trio that shifts in the ground every few years and twice I've dug around it and added concrete, but I should just pull it out and reset it. You may eventually want to do the same.

I have one of my houses that lean alittle. They seem to do fine in it. The only thing is that my pole is the telescoping type. It makes mine a little harder to get up and down.
Good luck

Margaret. I think I'd try to push it back up straight, or just a touch beyond, then tamp the dirt down around it. To me, it's not that important what others have seen, because your house could be leaning more than theirs, thus your birds could have more problems, especially those trying to exit up hill. I wouldn't take that chance. JMHO of course. CUL Lou

Can you buy a cane for the grandpa!!!!! Okay bad joke. I would try to do what CUL Lou said if it is leaning alot. If not leaning bad I would leave it alone, then again the sooner you fix it probably the less work it would be to fix it down the road.

towtexas,
Is it to where you could go to home depot and buy some metal fence posts(The thin ones) to drive down on either side of you pole to straighten it up, in year's past what i did was after i drove down the Fence posts on both sides of my PM House Pole i used a Large Radiator hose clamp to put around all of them and tightened down , also you could use a heavey Gauge wire to do the same thing...my point is this if the pole is just leaning and not bent in the middle , as you drive down the fence posts it should straighten up your leaning pole. I hope this post gives you an idea that will help you solve your problem. I think you do need to straighten up your pole so as to keep out the rain & weather and also keep the egg's from possibly falling out of the nests.

Grandmac.2, If the pole is not bent then the dirt around the pole has probably pulled back from the cement around the pole. If your as dry as we are here in SW Oklahoma
this is probably the case. If you can dig some of the dirt out on the high side of the lean, then push the pole back straight and use the dirt to fill in on the low side of the lean. Push some dirt back in and tamp it, then more dirt then tamp. You might have to let the water hose around the pole before you dig.
