Martin gal......how exactly do you put on the copper roof?? Is it two separate sheets that meet at the ridge top?? What covers the opening at the top where the two pieces of copper meet??

On my previous wood house I put a metal covering on the roof. It was attached to the wood with sheet metal screws. I think it was stainless steel and it worked out well. It really made it easier to clean, if you know what I mean :P happy PM-ing

What I have decided to do about the copper roof is to complete the roof structure in wood as the plans indicate and then cut a sheet of copper the same size as the entire roof up one side and down the next adding an additional 1/2 inch or so. I purchased a crimper to nicely fold the edge over itself so that I have a nice smooth edge seam. I am still a little concerned about getting the fold for the roof peak correct but I have alot of extra copper to "play with if I make a mistake. I purchased a damaged 100 ft roll of copper from a roofing supply at a fraction of the regular price. I will tack on the roof with copper nails and put the wooden roof cap over the copper. Sounds easy enough doesn't it?? Then why am I so nervous! I understand vinegar will turn it green so I bought a gallon at the grocery store today. I'd better get at least one pair of martins in this house this year! I had 12 pairs last year between my other two houses but I still plan on blasting the Dawn Song tape. My poor neighbors, I hope they don"t figure out that it isn't really birds waking them in the morning!

No, during the fall of 2004. Then I was off vacationing the 1st of feb.2005 when I should have been getting my house back up. I was late and someone else must have gotten my colony. I have always had martins ,but didnt really keep up that much. I had visitors last year, but no nesters. The T-14 roof is cut on a 5/5 pitch which is a perfect 90 degrees at the peak.
