Hi I just wanted to remind people to use the silicone caulk on the pmca metal clip on porches like the directions say to. I also added my own wood dowel perches to my trio mss12 last year and used hose clamps to hang the dowels on. Later that year I had an asy hanging from that hose clamp with his toe nail caught in that. The nest time I do that I am gonna silicone that also. Possibly people could use those plastic straps instead of those hose clamps. I just wanted people to remember the pms do get there toe nails caught in cracks, I have witnessed this. This might help some of the do it the selfers to fill in the gaps Craig

Craig,

Thanks for the tip. I used 2- 3' long pieces of 1/2" PVC pipe to attach 4 gourds to each of my Trio houses. I was wondering if the hose clamps I was using might be dangerous. I will cover them with silicone. This may prevent a problem later on.

Your welcome. How does your Trio house and pole do with 4 gourds under it? Is it strong enough and is it harder to raise and lower? I have a mss12 with a owl guard on it. Also do the gourds hit the pole very much or any? I imagine they use the pvc piping for perching???? I am strong believer in perches now. I added them last year and I believe they hung around longer during the day. More time for me to view. On any house that I put for now on I am gonna add perches. Some day I think I will buy one of those plastic tie guns instead of hose clamps.
