We all need to say this prayer in order to accept what we have done:

Forgive Me Father For I Have Sinned...

I rooted for Texas.

I rooted because I live in the heartland and couldn't take another year of
"USC's invincibility."

I rooted because of the 47-game winning streak.

I rooted because of my Big 12 loyalty.

I'm glad Texas won.

I feel SO, SO, SO dirty.

I hate Texas.

Amen.

GO POKES!!!

Oh...PS God, please guide all our feathered friends safely across the Gulf, and bless us with more fledglings and less S&S...even the Texans.

Amen

Now don't go getting upset, y'all know I'm just kiddin'.

I'm for the Texas A&M, but I still rooted for Texas (a traditional enemy) because of the same reasons that J Gragg mentioned. In a big game like that, I always pull for the team that hasn't won recently in a title game.

Even with missed calls, weak defense, I still thought it was the best college game that I ever saw. How can it be more exciting?

Being a native Texan, I've always loved the sometimes stinky Cowboys but will go to great lengths to never miss a UT game as they are my alma mater. I watch lots of football but the UT vs. USC Rose Bowl was the best game I've ever seen  bar none :!: .

J Gragg, I'm sorry that your resident state had little to offer and you found yourself rooting for the OSU cowboys this season :P I do recall them giving Texas a bit of a scare earlier this season.

Wishing you better luck with our purple pals!

Dale-
I root for the boys down South Because I am a transplated Okie and a proud OSU alum. I have to admit after 15 years I've grown fond of Wichita and Kansas. But...I will never love the 'Hawks nor the 'Cats, nor blue nor purple-just orange through and through (and not burnt orange either). And if you grow up in Oklahoma you are taught to hate the Longhorns and to a lesser degree the Huskers, whether you are raised as a Cowboy or a Sooner. It is funny how Okies hate Texas, and at the same time we are all Dallas Cowboys fans.

J - Why do Okies hate Texans :?: My daughter goes to UT and, of course, is one of those that bleeds orange; also she hates the Sooners. i have to be a horn fan because of her  except when it comes to the nat'l title I would have rooted for them anyway or any team other than USC.

Hope you have a great year with your martins. Still waiting for my first pair. :)

Not Texans...Texas as in University of. I like most Texans I've met. I head down to Dallas at least once a year for a football game. Okies are just born and raised to hate the UT-always have always will. Unlike many OSU fans, I like the Sooners too. And if you ask any Sooner or Longhorn fan if they could win the National Championship against anybody, but next year they had to loose on OU/UT weekend, they probably wouldn't take it.
But speaking of USC and Southern California et. al. I went out there in '86 and I thought just about everyone I met was insufferable and I'm really not exaggerating. Maybe they are cranky because they can't put up martin houses...

J - sorry, I misread your post. When my daughter went to Texas she immediately went to the "I hate OU" syndrome. That must be the first class they get - hate OU 101 - :)

Texas +7 points equals more money for expanded PM housing for me. Matt Leinart was/is no Carson Palmer, so Texas was an easy cover.

My problem being a sports fan in Kentucky is that pro football is almost over, and since Tubby Smith has finally ruined the University of Kentucky basketball program as most of us in Ky feared he would, there is nothing to watch sports related this time of year. For years, Tubby lived off Pitino's recruits and then off Kentucky's basketball program's legacy. But incompetence and lack of recruiting skills has finally brought our program down to it's knees and mediocracy. God, I hope it is time for Tubby to get fired, or as most overrated college basketball coaches go, get demoted to the NBA.

Can't wait til March Madness, but this time, it's the PM madness I am speaking of. I guess the Olympics might get me through the long winter.
