I'm wondering if many Wisconsin members on the forum participate in the "Scout Arrival Study". I've been checking it every few days and not much changes in NE Wisconsin. It's interesting that reports of arrivals in Canada are plentiful. It must be a tradition in the Canadian plains compared to US states.

In addition, under the Scout Study map there is another map which seems to capture the data and provide "first of month" border lines. I'm curious if eventually there will be a June 1st line. Or is this map just a yearly average 1st of month arrival date?

I did this year and last. I do feel that once the first wave of scouts arrive, the rest of us later starters aren't active in the scout report. Since this is my second year, I will say it makes me nervous when I am weeks behind colonies that are much further North.

As such I tend to look over the Subadult report more closely.

Martin Colony History: 2019 - Sighting
2020 - Pair investigating
2021 - Got 2 eggs. HOSPs poked holes in them. Commence HOSP reduction
2022 - Off to a good start, tree swallows took over and Martins left
2023 - Off to a good start, Martin population dwindled and they eventually left
2024 - New standalone pole and gourd rack. High hopes for success!

I’ve been submitting mine for a couple years now. I did submit my recent sighting but last I checked there were no may updates. Guessing they wait for a couple to build up before updating map and report?

I’m doing my part to help represent the east side of Lake Winnebago! 🙂
