Hope you’re having good luck with your BBs Miss Linda. I’ve got a particular female who’s become very tame. Her and her male hang out under my patio a lot. She stays on her eggs when I do nest checks. Check the photo!

Thank you Mr Thomas, I appreciate that. I am going to continue to see what else may be deterring the Martins. I do have 2 that checked out the trendsetter today so I have had a new found spark of hope.
I will continue my efforts to completely get rid of every last one of starlings. They better hunt a hole lol.
Good evening to you!!
Sincerely,
Linda Moore from Many La.

Good morning. Yes sir, the bluebirds are doing very well. Last check, one box has eggs and the other boxes have nest. Aren’t those cameras the neatest ever? Thank you for sharing these beautiful babies with me. Precious!!
My husband told me this morning there is still one Martin circling the box.
My hope is that the BB’s are busy with laying setting or building nests.
God Bless you Mr Martintown33!!
Sincerely,
Linda Moore Many La

Well good morning to everyone from Many La again. One day these posts are going to change and it will consist of happy testimonials about PM babies.
HOWEVER, not today. Went outside and lo and behold there were European Starlings on my trendsetter. BB flying around too and I am hearing a screaming PM.
I get on phone and beg my trap man to help with putting up this high tech starling trap. My husband will not understand renting a cherrry picker lol
Whatever it takes, not having Starlings taunt any of my babies. No feathered friend is safe. I will update as soon as there are any developments.
Sincerely,
Linda Moore from Many La

Hi Linda.. I hope everything works out with your martins and BBs.. actually that photo isn’t from a nest cam.. I took that pic myself, as she stays on her eggs, whenever I open the box, to do nest checks..

Mr MartinTown33 good morning. Very interesting picture. What exactly did the BB lay in? Is that a box?
My BB never seem to leave their nests either when I open to check on them..
My delima for those following my bluebirds fighting Martins. Such a roller coaster. Reminds me of the seesaws in elementary school, up and down emotionally.
I tore out BB nest in the Royal Wing box day before yesterday and thankfully still no eggs (other bb boxes have eggs though) . They continue since day before yesterday building nest in Royal Wing. Lord willing, sometimes today, I will let house down and take it out. I am praying no eggs.
I hear Martins but they don’t stay.
God Bless each one of you!!
Sincerely,
Linda Moore Many La.

Good afternoon everyone. The Bluebirds are finally gone but not until I took down the Royal Wing PM box, this is the one they continually made new nest in. Again, no eggs in any nest.
They have decided to quit fighting the PM’s.
The other day I had. Troyer trap put up, the BB’s are using as a perch, thankfully they are not using the Trendsetter box that was gifted to me this year and has never had PM’s built in.
Forgive me if I should not have placed PM update on this particular subject topic.
I do know for a fact that I have one PM female that spends the night in the box . For fact that’s all I can report. Perched in a pecan tree, close by the Trendsetter, are 2 PM’s that enjoy preening, perched on the tree, appearing to be female and male. I’m still educating myself on PM sexing.
For a fact I have 4 PM’s that I see daily singing coming over.
I know for a fact since March 6, I have had PM’s.
I only know of one that spends the night in the box.
No bluebirds to mess with them so 1 PM stays the night.
Here is my question PLEASE from some of you expert landlords. PM’s are gone all day eating I’m assuming. No nest building, no congregating on the box, no nest building, no mating as in the past, no flying in and out of the box except one PM will occasionally come check the box etc but leaves shortly thereafter.
Please tell me what you think is going on. Why are they not establishing a home and preparing to raise a family?
I know or feel bluebirds have been one delay, but thankfully that’s been resolved after weeks of doing different things to make them go on for their relocated BB boxes in a proximity they can see their old homes.
Everyone has been so gracious to me and I so appreciate once again everyone’s responses and encouragement. God Bless each of you.
Sincerely,
Linda from Many La.

I'm not an expert, but have done tons of reading. First off, great job with the BBs! As far as the PMs go, that is total normal behavior from them at this time of year where you live. I'm not that far from you and mine are behaving very similar. Nest building will begin soon!

Mr Thomas, good morning. You have given me renewed hope lol.
I worked really hard on those BB’s. Drove my family crazy lol. I try not mention ANY bird names around them. They are so afraid of and when I do it will entail their help, lol.
Mr Thomas, do you think I will get any more Martins other than the 4, stranglers perhaps?
God Bless you Mr Thomas!!
Sincerely,
Linda from Many La.

Hard to say Linda. The subadults are still coming in and current PMs love to bring in more to their colony.

Mr Thomas, just a few minutes ago, I saw 5 Martins flying in the sky over the property, it’s as though she is escorted by an entourage every evening when she comes home and goes to bed, lol.
Now for the Martin #5, I have no idea the sexes of any of the 5 EXCEPT, I do know there is an adult male in the 5. I do know the lady came home and went inside her home tonight.
Yes sir, I was thinking maybe hopefully I may get more Martins to check out the house, Mr Thomas, there is no one for miles that has PM’s, I just have to believe these 5 will come check things out eventually.
Still no bluebirds fighting PM’s, thank you Jesus!!
Thank you for responding Mr Thomas!
God Bless you!
Sincerely,
Linda from Many La.

Well, I guess, the good news is that the PMs only live in man made houses in our part of the country. So if there are no colonies nearby, then they have no where else to go. 5 is a good start. They'll recruit more.
