We had very windy weather for the last few days and yesterday it rained for most of the day. This morning I chased the owl away at 5:30 and stayed out until sunrise. That damn owl. But the subject of my post is not the owl, it’s my martins behavior today. I went out just to check on them and while out there under my patio two or three martins made a straight flight to me then up to the roof where they landed. Immediately I knew they were asking for food. I rushed inside the house and quickly thawed out crickets and began flipping to them. Before you knew it the whole colony ( it seemed like all of them ) were taking the crickets. They were hungry. I ended up flipping 2 thousand crickets and several meal worms. Isn’t that interesting? Just thought I’d share. Hoping the owl will leave soon. Brent

Brent,
Try to cement it in their brain. Keep offering food, even if just for a few times.a week. They do remember.

Well done and hope that owl quits its $hit.

That’s awesome Brent! You definitely have them trained.. great accomplishment ! You won’t have to worry about bad weather ever again… as far as that owl, I know I’ve said it before. But I’d be shooting bottle rockets at him every time I saw him. Make it miserable for him to be around. He will find some other place to hunt..
Great accomplishment on your trained martins! That’s a big tool you have now..
