If you havnt read or heard about Kathy Freeze, take a moment and read the blog.
She is a long time martin landlord, very experienced. She says she doesn't want to build a super colony of martins...she wants to build a super colony of landlords.

Very welcome. Yes she's great. I did all her trapping ideas, from stand alone trap houses to ground, van erts, universal sparrow traps, her snake net configuration, you name it. Even managed to get 2 van ert traps into a trio house. I cannot afford the monster pellet gun she has nor have I had to build the owl guards she has around her colony. But I know how to build the cage if it comes to it.
She means business.

Great article tom! Great trapping tips… as my HOSPs are pretty well under control, and I’m more of a hunter of my HOSPS, than a trapper, I prefer hunting method, … but awesome info if I need it in the future. Will save this article. It’s definitely something all new Martin landlords should read, if they are skittish about eliminating HOSPS..

Agree Rob, prefer hunting. But man. You'd be surprised, this year 3 males i never saw in nest box traps...alls quiet then out of no where 3 in 3 days.

Yep Tom… 3 in 3 days… yes indeed! …that’s the beauty of traps.. they’re always working and hunting, even when we’re not…

Oh I like that sir.
Good thing I didn't treat them as a false trip, almost did. Peaked in there and saw the profile crouched against the wall. 2 in back, one in front.
Soon I'll move them all near some suet feeders for starlings, they just cannot resist the dark hole. Ill put them on a 1 inch 7 foot tall length of pipe, stacked right on top of each other. They fight for the suet and like a magnet, drawn right in.
Fun to watch!
