Tree Swallow returns 3/2/23...PM's a few weeks out now

Happy to see 4 Tree Swallows flying, chirping away, chasing each other at warp speed, playing, etc...over the property and housing. First sighting of the year. I always gauge the PM arrivals 2-4 weeks after I spot the first TS's. Tree's blooming, grass emerging, longer days,....not long now before Spring in full effect in SW VA and the first Martins begin showing in these parts.

Im expecting to see TS arriving any time. The earlies I ever had them was mid February. I would say within a week or so they will be here....

I believe our seasons are concurrent even though you're a little further north. Love the sounds of the TS's when they show up...they seemed excited and that passed into me for a few minutes.

Glad they made it and seem happy! warp speed is a good description for those smaller Martin cousins, if a Martin is a fighter jet, then they are like maneuverable flexible rockets. Things are waking up! all that preparation will be used quite soon.

We don't have any notable numbers of tree swallows here in Galveston, TX area. On the other hand, most of our rural bridges have large colonies of cave swallows.

Meanwhile, no sign of PMs here on Galveston Bay. Last year they arrived on March 13th well after any chance of a hard frost.

Tree swallows just arrive two days ago here in East Tennessee. Purple Martin shouldn’t be too far behind a neighbor a few miles away. Has one male Martin right now.

.. Thanks for the heads up... Your right the Trees Swallow show up, and the Martins are not far behind.. Usually it's about 2 weeks between the Trees and the Martins here in Southeastern Ohio Valley.. No Tree Swallows here yet...
