100% occupancy in 5th year as a landlord

A quick update from southern SK, Canada
The first year was 2018 with a small house given to us. We had 4 pair that year.
I now have two houses I built with a total of 16 nest boxes. (search my name on the forum if you want to see them)
I went up a ladder to have a look today and all rooms are taken, some with eggs, some with pinkies and some with birds that look almost ready to fly.
Sparrows were dealt with early in the season and I apply sevin dust a few times over the season to control the mites.
Really happy with how well it has gone and we enjoy having them visit for the summer.

Congrats, keep it up. It amazes me that some areas can be done and martins have already migrated, while others just starting.

Wow! That must feel great! So much to enjoy… are you considering adding more housing or is this your ideal number? I’ve often wondered what I’ll do if I’m ever at 100%… don’t want to take on more than I can manage. Congratulations on your successful season!

No plans to add more housing as we live in town with a typical sized back yard. Have one house on each back corner of the lot.
They also poop all over my house so I think 16 compartments is enough!

I do wonder why they bother flying all the way up north. Most years they show up and we still have snow in the forecast. You would think the southern US would be plenty big enough for them to nest in.

They come at the worst times but they are hell bent for their locations. Understand poop, its been more evident with the lack of rain. seems like every few inches there's poop, neighbor has a car that hasn't moved in months, covered. especially when chicks are older, boy.
