When I bought my seeds to plant this year, the pack said birdhouse goards. Well, it ended up being bottleneck goards.
Is there any reason I can't use them next year if they are big around enough??

I looked them up and came across this image. If yours are similar then I would think so if they are big enough. There are also ways you can add a tunnel to them. Perhaps do a quick search here on the forum as there is most likely a post on that topic.
These bottle neck gourds are similar in shape to the Troyer Vertical gourds which are very successful in my set up.

To add to what whippy says, they are very good gourds if what is pictured the type...your imagination is the limit. Mr Barrow gifted me some of those, you can turn them on their side and put the access cap on top, with porches near the neck, or have the porch under the gourd neck with it tilted just a bit forward. Martins love the roominess. They are fantastic. Should be fun to build, and watch martins claim them.
A good house sparrow is a dead house sparrow.

I am using S&K Bo 9 gourds, which are pretty much the smallest artificial gourds on the market. They are double stacked, which means the bottom gourd is attached to the top gourd with an adapter plate and so it doesn't even have the 'neck'. The martins are nesting in the bottom gourds and even ignoring the larger, PMCA excluder gourds. So as long as the bowl size is sufficient, it shouldn't matter.
