It's so bad with the bad weather down south. A question I have is I had 1 nesting pair up here in SW Ontario and wondering if my lonely pair would be affected by this or do the northern birds leave later from their winter home.

Habsboy,
Your martin will be perfectly fine, since they take off at a much later time. Martin migrate over a long time as a whole, but they only take about a week to get to your place from Brazil. The migration south during our fall and winter months take longer.
ImageMite control, heat venting, predator protection and additional feeding during bad weather add up to success.
