Touchdown in Raleigh NC! We had just finished hanging the gourds this afternoon at University Club in Raleigh, NC and I heard that familiar sound! ASY male! He landed on gourd 16a and scooted right in. Let the season begin!
This is a public site managed by members of the NC Purple Martin Society as well as volunteers from Wake Audubon. We typically get a martin back at this site the last week of February.
Still waiting at my home site in Holly Springs, as well as another public site in the same town at Sugg Farm; I expect a martin back at home hopefully sometime in the next 2 weeks.

I'm not having one this season since I am tied up with a course I'm taking plus a new job, but hopefully next year we can all get together and talk martins.
Meanwhile, I'm still watching the skies (when I'm home!) waiting for my first martin at home this year.
