The scout reports here on this website tell you when Martins are usually seen all over North America. You can select the year and State to look at.
Here's last year's reports for Texas. Click the little purple dots for location around your site and you will see the dates.

Our first martins returned on February 5th last year, the earliest in our fifteen years. Usually they return on Valentine’s Day. We are ready and waiting although I always hope they hold off until the worst of winter is over.

Scout report showed the first reported Martin in Texas to be in Point Blank, TX which is on Lake Livingston.
2.5 hours south of DFW area and 3 hours East of Austin.
Maybe after this cold snap we will begin to see more.

Sorry for the delay clivia98;clivia98 wrote: Thank you I heard birds. Where do they go? Do the arriving scouts just continue to fly to their previous nests? These certainly looked healthy to me and gave me wonder as to where they stay tonight. I had a house full last year and all were successful except one nest. I expect they will return to me, right? Along with new nesters?
The birds are on a mission, that is to return to the home that they know and claim their housing, re-acquaint themselves with the area and start to look for company. They travel fast during the day, the last few days the weather north is drawing winds from the gulf and they can get carried pretty far inland. They will find a place to roost at night, they know where they are going, probably not far off from where you are.
Id expect your birds to return around the same time they did last year; looks like your birds showed up Feb 8th last year. Its a long hard journey for them and its really a numbers game; first year I had 5 pair and it grew after that. Based upon numbers you should get them back just fine. your returning birds will recruit for you!
Good luck this year, its exciting when they start to return.
