Hi everyone,
I currently have 2 x 4 inch mesh size welded wire fence that encloses my gourd racks. I cut out one 4 inch wire to create a 4 x 4 inch opening which is about 10 inches from in front of my gourd porches. I would rather have 4 x 4 inch mesh size for the entire fence, but I'm finding it difficult to locate 4 x 4 inch mesh size welded wire fence that is also 3 feet wide. Any assistance in a place I can find it is welcome.

Dave,
4x4 is probably going to be tough to find, I also looked for it when I was working on my owl cages. I just used the 2x4 and cut out pieces in front of the entrances to make 4x4 openings. This has been working out fine for me. The Martins seem to have adapted very well to it.

Thanks for the responses. I do think my best option is for farm and tractor store or maybe an online company.

Personally, I'd go to a farm or fence supply and buy woven wire, rather than welded. It's stronger, and holds up better over the long haul.
There is one with 4" squares, made for sheep and goats.

I agree Kathy. Seems like if the martin lands on a 2 x 4 opening instead of the cut out 4 x 4 opening, they have a rough time flying the short distance to the gourd porch. I use tail props on the base of the 4 x 4 openings. Vinyl siding clipped over the bottom of the opening.
