Manage 7 different colonies in Colby Kansas.

11 Nests with Babies. Total of 45 Babies and 35 Eggs left. We had one Pair that Abandoned from a House Sparrow. We also have a Couple Nests with 1 or 2 Eggs missing. The very last 2 pictures are the Eggs that were thrown out of the Abandoned Pairs Nest. So we are down to 18 Pair instead of 19. But I'm still happy with my year so far.

Martin Colony History: 2015 put up a S-k house, visitors but no takers
2016 homemade Martin condo (40 nesting boxes) several visitors no takers
2017 changed crescent openings to Troyer Conley 2 openings and installed 4 super gourds with Conley2 adapters and 12 vertical Troyers.
Several nests and eggs. Hopefully will exceed one hundred eggs this year.
6-21-17 nest inspection 68 chicks and 26 eggs
6-30-17 inspection 90 chicks and a new nest with 4 eggs.
8-30-17 successfully fledged over 85 martins.

Great photos Kyler, your chicks seem to be close to the same age.
I have new eggs and chicks ready to fledge and everywhere in between.
Do you live near row crop farm land? I see straw and corn fodder in your nests.

Thanks guys!

MartinFarmer,
Well I live near open fields of grass. But no I give my Martins straw to nest with. I use Wheat Straw that I get at a farm close by. The martins go crazy over it.

Ok, another first for a beginner. I heard the chicks fussing inside their nests fir the first time. It won't be long before their coming out party.
