2017 changed crescent openings to Troyer Conley 2 openings and installed 4 super gourds with Conley2 adapters and 12 vertical Troyers.
Several nests and eggs. Hopefully will exceed one hundred eggs this year.
6-21-17 nest inspection 68 chicks and 26 eggs
6-30-17 inspection 90 chicks and a new nest with 4 eggs.
8-30-17 successfully fledged over 85 martins.

I looked back on my txt msg and the first nest building started on may 2nd. I have four new pairs that came in later and they have just now began serious nest building.
They mostly bring in last years wheat straw. I no-till all my crops, so there is an abundance of wheat straw for the taking. I will be harvesting wheat in a few days. It will be interesting to see if they go for the new straw right beside their housing. The Lord's work in Purple martins is so obvious, they are a true blessing to watch.

Hey mike, couldn't agree more. I spread wheat straw on my driveway, they are hauling it in. Finished planting Pinto beans on Thursday, The Soybeans are just poking through and the corn has three leaves. We used to do some no-till but its been too wet here in the last few years. Happy Martining!

Its amazing how the seasons and location affect Farmers lives as well as the martins too.
My wife sees a doctor in Houston. On 5/14, while in Houston we took a day trip into the country side. We saw corn that had tasseled already. My corn will tassel in about a week or so. Everything has its time and season.

2017- built T-14+songbird magnet, 6 pairs,15 fledged
2018- built 2nd T-14. Anxiously waiting!!

Still trying to plant corn here in central Ohio. We've replanted many acres of corn and likely will be replanting soybeans. Looks like thunderstorms on the way this evening. Good news is I've had 3-4 pairs of Martin's hanging around and I see makings of nests in 2 rooms of my T-14 one even has a couple green leaves in it. I'm keeping my fingers crossed, hope they make a go of it!!

Buckeye, I hope you get your crops and your martins on track.
My son had to replant some soybeans . The replant assistance was so low, he paid ten dollars more and bought Asgrow to replant. Maybe it sent the first guys a message.
