house sparrows
best way too to discourage h.s. so they don't take out their revenge on b.b. t.s. and martins. I tore down h.s. nest that they built in barn swallow nest.It had eggs in it. Putting pin holes in eggs and replacing there eggs with old eggs probably could help. I don't know of any other options. There going to know nest was messed with because they weave the nest in such a way the eggs often fall to ground when working with nest.

Hello Grey Fox.
I have a Benjamin PCP air gun and it's putting a hurtin on the sparrows this spring. I do not like shooting the sparrows
but it's the most humane way for me because the pellet gun is just deadly. No suffering, no dispatching. Still no Martins. I have the speaker playing the dawn song and chatter in the morning for 3 hours and the same in the evening. I'm praying they show up soon.

- Martin Colony History: Several colonies with in 6 mile radius.
Have had visitor every year 2014-24.
Two large trees removed in fall 2024 and moved T-14 to a more open location.
2025- 1 SY pair. Fledged 2.
I have poked a few pin holes in sparrow eggs. The S an S's are very wary of me, but i have greatly reduced the #s.
I spoke to someone the other day from Blair county. She had never heard of martins and I told her there were martins in Tyrone, courtesy of Grey Fox!!
