Martin Colony History: 2016 - 22 Pair

I was inside the house and heard a lot of martin's chirping from my martin housing. Went to the window and saw two SY females that just arrived this morning. Their arrival is one day earlier than last year. Since they are not SY males, I will not report but wanted to let landlords in Kansas know the SY's are arriving. You can tell the SY females by the white crissum or feathers under the tail.

Tim,
That's great. I had a SY Female show up 2 days ago here in Northwest Kansas. She is paired up with a ASY Male.

Tim, we've seen very few martins in our vicinity, where usually you can almost always hear or see them up high. We don't see them chasing hawks like normal. Our ASY male is still attempting to bring visitors but seems to be having a hard time. That's good news about SY martins showing up! Love the photo! We just keep trapping sparrows and waiting

It appears 1 or 2 SY females have found my site as well, just South of I-70, near I-75
