Sharon,
Your location looks perfect for purple martins! And any patriotic martin would surely move in with that beautiful American flag waving! I just have this feeling that 2017 is going to be your year to have a purple martin colony. Good luck and please keep us posted on how things are going!

- Martin Colony History: The 1972 St. Agnes flood wiped out all the Martins in my area. One day, in 1997-98, 5 or 6 Martins landed on the power wires crossing my back yard. I had no house for them. They kept coming back day after day. We got a martin house a few weeks later & they have been coming back every year since. I average 12-15 pair per year.
Looks good Sharon. Best wishes on getting your colony started this year.

Simply stunning...when you get your birds this year, we are driving down with some good Canadian beer and gonna have a celebration. Might take 7-8 hours to drive there, but I bet the party will be unbelievable.
Started praying for your success last week.
We (my sons and I) have to put up three new sets this week in the rain...gonna be some whining Saturday morning, you will probably be able to hear them at your house if you listen carefully to your Northeast.....

- Martin Colony History: 2016 Informed landlord now Have 2 pair returning from 2015 That is a miracle. Hoping for a very successful year, sparrow population on decline.
First house was plastic with crescent holes Had martins within a few days. Ignorant landlord gradually lost them
Then got Trio House and still lost most of them. Lots of sparrows
Hey i think I'll join in. First nesting pair HAS to mean a party. How far are you from Tulsa OK?

- Martin Colony History: Colony established May 20, 2017 after three unsuccessful years. Persistent and aggressive Tree Swallows plagued the site, but beyond learning - and practicing - to control them, was the return in 2017 of a 2016-SY-M previously unable to find a mate. As a handsome ASY-M, he brought along two females and a swagger that soon put the Tree Swallow issue to rest. As the anchor pair, he and his mate hatched all six of their eggs into fat and healthy babies into what settled in to be a three-pair, flourishing new colony with up to 11 birds total, including 3 SY-M trouble makers.
Wow! Mega site. This just has to be your year. Been wondering about you.
Best of luck!

Greetings, Sharon, site looks great and much hard work going on there. We hope this is your year and all goes great. We noticed the flag and it is great that you too appreciated it and living in the U.S.A. Not to rain on the great work but I once heard or read that the Martins did not like a flag waving in the area. Not know if this is true or not so you may want to check it out and if positive then consider relocating it away form the site.
It is not know if you had the flag up past years etc. You may want to check with PM Services etc. The beer sounds great some smooth C. Ale
Please. Lived in Port Huron for 2 years, just xs the Blue Water Bridge St Clair River and your in Canada, great large golf greens. you buy the
imported ale when not in their domain. Sound like you have the cheering squad and all behind you. Bless all for the windfall this year.
