Another year with no martins, but for the past month have had daily visits from a number of floater males SY and ASY. They are mainly interested in the plastic house, but also check out the gourd rack. Hopefully they are "imprinting" on my housing....
Good luck and congrats to you all who are fledging and have successful colonies!.... There is a large noisy colony (1319 Robertson St), a block from my Dad's house in Carthage MO. Their calls and soaring overhead lift my spirits as my brother and I are working at Dad's to get his place ready for sale. (He passed away June 6, age 86 after a massive stroke)... So probably not having a PM colony to manage again this year was a blessing in disguise.
I hope to have time this fall/winter to remodel and place a Trio Grandpa that Dorn is going to let me borrow. Never a dull moment here, or a lack of projects.
Best wishes to all for the remainder of the season.
PS: The roost at Carthage MO near Wal Mart is forming again this year.
Best Wishes to all as the PM season begins to wind down.

- Martin Colony History: 2016 Informed landlord now Have 2 pair returning from 2015 That is a miracle. Hoping for a very successful year, sparrow population on decline.
First house was plastic with crescent holes Had martins within a few days. Ignorant landlord gradually lost them
Then got Trio House and still lost most of them. Lots of sparrows
Mamma Bruff good to hear from you. I was wondering why you had "dropped out of sight" Now I understand. So sorry about losing your father. That is tough no matter the age. Blessings to you & your family on his passing.
So sorry also about the empty houses. Wishing you an amazing year next year.

Mary,
Yes another year without a nesting pair for me to! Still getting some visits from who hears my cd. I'm going to keep playing it all summer to bring some younguns in. I know we will be excited about next year when it comes! Visitors bring nesters??? That's what I'm hoping!
So kind for Andrew to let you use his faithful trio. Wonderful folks on here!
So sorry about your father, you have all my sympathy!

So sorry to hear about your Dad...mine is 88 and doing pretty good but we're always leery to answer the phone when is him calling, thinking something is wrong. Lost Mom last year and it was very hard for all specially him.
Like you, NO MARTINS this year; I put up the house REALLY LATE but...had a few visits about three days after it was up, but not a one of them spent the night :(
Good luck to you (us) next year and we'll stay tuned to see how we do in 2017. You are correct about TIME taking care of everything (including us)
