I guess
I had 3 ASY males here this morning but no females. At the beginning there was a male and a female so 1 pair and she kept coming back. She even took the mud off of the entrance to the house that I put on to looked like there was a nest from last year! So, then I kinda got my hopes up that maybe she was going to stay with him but I guess not!

Hey kyler,in the future think about hanging a gourd on each perching rod, could make your site more inviting, don't forget to line the bottom with a nice bedding of dried white pine meddle, your picture looks good.

Thanks! And no that is the mounting plate of that house I never took the mounting brackets off to put on a pole.
1BirdmanEye,
I am the only person that has gourds at a colony in the town I live in. If the other photo would load I could show you. At my old house I had gourds hanging under the house and never got the martins to land on it then I took them off I got martins to land so I just don't know if the gourds scare them or what? But thanks.

Hey Kyler,
I have always liked the looks of that classic Trio double house set up. Have you considered enlarging your compartments to a 6 by 12 inch? I like the room they give the Martins for nesting. Plus I think the babies need the room when they get bigger before fledging. I also like the fact that the birds can get for their back into the nest avoiding predators.
Although they certainly nest in 6x6, I wonder if a female chooses a larger compartment. I have no idea. Not certain if that's something that appeals to them when they choose a site or if it just appeals to us humans more.

DebA,
Both of those houses were double the one on the right is doubled compartments. But all the martins are coming to a colony which is all 6 by 6 so I decided to switch the one on the left back to 6 by 6 I kinda was thinking the female didn't like the big compartments but I don't know! Thanks a lot for the advice!

Yeah Kyler I have it all. 6x6, 6x12, natural gourds, plastic gourds, trio house, and flat top old aluminum house. It just has to be that right female to get it started. I really believe it's them that want other company around. We need to come up with a remote control Martin so when that female shows up we can fly it around to make her happy!!!
keep trying we'll get that LUCKY female one day. Good luck!!!

Lol Sharon, "have it all". Now I see the hole covers on right. Dang my eyes are getting old. I told my eye doc, I've been coming to you for 10 years and now I can't see anything. Good job. Needed bi-focals. Lol

Around 12:30 today there was two ASY males and one ASY female one of the males landed and the others never did but I think im getting closer!!
The other thread on (Changing round to excluder entrances) I had the male go in the right house house which has excluder entrances so im going to get all excluder entrances or just change the round ones to excluder entrances and just make my own!
I also had another question? Will a ASY male pair up with a SY female? Because our subadults in northwest KS should be showing up any day!!

Yes sir, that's what I'm hoping for. I just got done mowing and ASY male sat and watched me now. So still a glimmer of hope. Good luck

Okay thanks! Well I guess I will hoping for that as well!
Also another question? My two houses that are out front. The ones in the photo. The pole is a round pole I just got my new 2 by 2 inch pole and I made a different cross bar thing to put both of the houses on and I wanted to switch out the pole with the square one because I have a probelm with the houses turning in the wind but with the square pole they wont do you think I could do that or will it scare the martins away and never come back?

Do it.
If a house spins or rotates on nesting martins it is not good. They will not know their spot. With your houses being the same I don't think it will create any kind of distress for them.
