Has anyone ever set this up before? I can't play the dawnsong from my house anymore, which was away from my housing anyway. I want to move my audio setup closer to the housing but there is no power to plug into.

I'm planning on running my stereo and cd from a solar powered 12v battery. The stereo is timed to come on by itself and shut off a few hours later. I won't be around so I need a setup that's automatic.

I have the panel, charge controller and battery all ready to go. I need an inverter to go from the battery and give me 110v to plug my stereo into. I have had trouble finding a definitive ac inverter that will power the stereo at the same time as the battery is being charged by daylight. I don't want to have to go and switch the controller and inverter every day.

Anyone have any solar experience? I've been looking on Amazon.

I'm in year I don't know how long now, in trying to attract martins and don't want to try this year without the dawnsong. Solar is my only choice.

Play from your cars CD player. Just park car close , open the doors and sunroof and blast the volume. I'm playing it from youtube hooked into my car sound system. My neighbors windows are rattling !!

The inverter will use too much power.

You could get a solar charger from harbor freight - http://www.harborfreight.com/15-watt-so ... 68692.html

Pair it with a small lead acid battery from tractor supply or amazon.

Power your device from a 12V adapter.

But I think your CD player will be simply too much power draw.

If the Dawn song was ever released as an MP3 on itunes or something you could take an old apple iPod and set the dawn song to an alarm. Set the alarm for 4 Am and let it rip. The iPod and amp and speaker can all run from a battery as mentioned above. It could be solar or plug it in to the wall with a power adapter.

Supplies:

old iPod, iphone, etc.
small amp - parts express has them. Look for anything 15 watts and less than $10
small outdoor horn speaker - parts express has these as well.

Thanks, I worked this system out and I *think* it's going to work.

Long story short I moved out of my house so I can't run the speaker horn from the roof of the house anymore. My 12 unit chalet system was a 150 yards from my house anyway, so this new solar powered speaker horn is actually closer.

I placed it high a top a cliff and pointing south, so I'm hoping it has better luck than the past 6 years trying. Since I lived in the house I could never play the horn before the prime very early morning hours, since well, I like to sleep past 4am. Plus my house was in a valley, and now the set-up is on the top of the cliff surrounding the valley.

There's really no neighbours close, so I can play it quite loud, and if the solar recharge works, it will play from 4am-10am daily.

I'm just hoping it doesn't short out and cause a forest fire.

Great work Ryan!
That may be the ticket, now that you're broadcasting out much farther than before.
