Think I now can count three nesting pairs and many visitors. And the weather has been anything but pleasant. Continues to be cold, rainy, windy, but looks better the coming week. I can't even keep my house chores going for looking out the windows at the martins. Just me so it doesn't matter, don't hav to meet any inspections. A long wait for this occasion.

that's what these purple martins do, they keep you looking out the window.
But that's OK. I've been a land lord for 12 years and I still can't stay away from the window.

Happy for you, enjoy them.

delma, I love that! I cant get my house chores done either. and during the day it is just me so I don't care. I rush and do it right before everyone gets home :) I had 4 males return today. and I did not even get to see them because of the weather. I did feedings for five days straight. i do not know how these birds do it.

I can't wait each morning to open the blinds in my breakfast nook to look toward the martin house. In minutes I have the coffee brewing and soon seated with coffee and become a real devoted spectator. The real show this morning I saw a martin take a sparrow to the ground three times. Since I am alone I can cheer freely with all vigor, get him, get him. The sparrow finally flew away and I congratulated the martin, good job well done. I plan to spend Easter with my kids and grand-kids, sure hope my martins will be OK.
