Does anyone know a good source to purchase .22 cartridges with bird shot? All the stores around me either don't carry, or when they come in are sold out darn near the same day. The supply/demand issue for ammo these days is crazy....

Thanks. Tim

You will have issues getting .22 cartridges anywhere. They sell out in a matter of hours. A bunch of idiots started hoarding the stuff after then Newtown shooting... it's been that way ever since. Ammo makers deferred increasing production of .22 infavor of higher margin rounds. They are only now paying attention to the .22 shortage. Now if we could only get those folks who already have 50k rounds to stop buying.

I never had much luck with .22 shot loads, I think the pellets are too lightweight to go any distance and be very effective, then many times it only injures slightly and they get away into a hedgerow etc.

Ray is right. Unless you are shooting at a wasp or bee at close range, I don't see the purpose.

The .22 shot cartridge was originally designed for very close range, 6 to 8 feet. It contains a very small charge of #12 shot. If you do get some, try shooting them at a piece of paper taped to a cardboard box 6 feet away, and you will see how scattered the shot is. A better choice would be a scoped pellet rifle .
