48 hours now with temps not getting out of the 30s and they were ready to eat. Uses a slingshot shooting crickets high in the air. Will have to feed again tomorrow. Slingshot works much better than the spoons.

A slingshot sounds like a terrific idea. That is awesome that yours are eating.

Well........ I tried again this morning to get them to eat. Bad idea. Too cold at 29 degrees and they were too weak. They were all in the gourd together and could barely fly when they came out.
Will try again later in the day when temps hit 40 for a high.

I am sort of glad that mine haven't made it home yet! I keep looking in the sky and aroung their house. Just some pesky ole' starlings and house sparrows. Can't wait to see them come home. I live near Lewisburg,Ky.

Be very thankful your PMs have not arrived. Wish mine had not but doing my best to keep them alive.
Had some success at lunch. One male and two females were around and did take the crickets offered this time. One female very weak but did eat two. Will try again after work. Two were missing so hopefully they will be there tonight.
Somewhat warmer temps are forecast this weekend but this cold weather has reached very far south causing new birds to have to travel through a very cold air mass. They could be pretty weak when they arrive as well and require feeding if we have just a day or two of another cold spell.
Wishing very hard for some warm sunny weather in Kentucky.
